Graphic 45 Design Team 2013 Audition

Wow! What an exciting week I have had with creating some projects for the Graphic 45 design team auditions!!!  I'm super excited to share them with you and hope they inspire you to not only create but step a little out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself.

For those of my wonderful friends who are scratching their heads wondering what the heck Graphic 45 is......go and check their blog out.  It's packed full of new scrapbooking products and awesome inspiration for the card maker, scrapbooker and off the page designers.  I just love the textures and prints of the papers and staples are so much fun and add such a groovy look to any project!

So you wanna see what I made????????

PROJECT 1

I had so much fun playing with these papers and using an embossing resist technique around the edges of the page as well as on the wooden butterfly.  It really makes the page come to life and draws your eye in towards the photo of my beautiful daughter, Hannah (12).

The products I used are:

Paper from the G45 Little Darlings Collection
                                                                     - "Cherished" 4500450

I think my background paper was also G45 Communique Collection - "A Fine Specimen" 4500059

PROJECT 2

My scrapping style varies quite alot.  Sometimes I'm all flowery and girlie and then others I can be clean cut and neat and sometimes down-right grungy!! Alot of what I do and how I create is governed by new products, fresh new photos and how I'm feeling at the time.  This layout is of our oldest daughter Sariah (17yo).  She is a pure delight and not overly girlie (unlike Hannah in the first layout!!).  I think it's important to make the layouts reflect the person in the photo also....it kind of gives off an energy from the subject.  I also had a little fun with the photo by printing two of the same size photo and trimming the top photo down and then sanding the edges of both pics.

The products I used are:

Kaisercraft cardstock (inked up with Tim Holtz Distress ink - Broken China

October Afternoon Farm Girl Collection
                                                               - "Almanac" PP 689

Sassafras Las paper (I'm sorry I don't know which range as it was an offcut)

 Paper doillie

 Manilla tag

 Prima lace trims

Miscellaneous ribbons and trims, rik-rak, chipboard heart and flower, book paper

 Basic Gray brown chipboard letters

I had the most amazing time creating this Kaisercraft storage cupboard!!!!!  I think it's my favourite OTP project so far!!!  I absolutely love making canvases and am inspired alot by the amazing Christy Tomlinson's "She Art", so when I saw the cupboard in my LSS Out and About Craft I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it and I just knew the G45 Secret Garden Collection would look awesome for it!  I was very lucky to have the opportunity to meet Charee and Aimee at a Creative Block in Brisbane a couple of years ago and spent quite some time chatting with them.  Luckily for me, before the conversation ended they gave me several of the metal flowers.......I think this was the perfect project to use them on!!!!

PROJECTS 10, 11 & 12

The above are 3 canvases in a series of eight.  I created these when my mum and a few friends and I voyaged down to Daisy Chain Scrapbooks in Nambour for our bi-annual retreat.  We always have so much fun and on this particular occassion I felt impressed to start making these canvases in preparation for our daughter Hannah's (12) progression into Young Womens at church.  There are eight values in the Young Womens motto along with a corresponding color. That's why each canvas has a different color.  I hope they will not only look beautiful on her wall but also serve as a reminder of the sort of woman we would like for her to become.......although, I think she is already well on her way towards becoming a beautiful young woman, inside and out!

Given there are so many products involved on these canvases I won't make a product list.  But if there is something on there you spot that you would like to know about please feel free to ask!!!

So as you can see and if you hadn't noticed already, I have a real love affair with color and texture!!  My scrapbooking style has varied greatly in the 16 years I have been scrapbooking.  I love to learn new techniques and explore what can be done with products both old and new.  But I'm not afraid to admit to being scared to cut up a gorgeous sheet of paper in fear of ruining it.........but that soon passes!!!!!

So......fingers and toes crossed I have not only inspired you to get creative......but also given the wonderful girls at Graphic 45, Diane, Charee and Aimee a good look at some of the things I can do and they feel I would be most suitable to join their creative family!!!

Until my next post sweet friends xxxx
